Hot on the heels of the full Security Suite, AVG AntiVirus Free 8 is here.

One clever extra is the Linkscanner software. This software scans links in Google Searches to check for malicious scripts that might damage the computer. I've been using it a little while as a stand alone app. It's similar to McAfee's SiteAdvisor (for Firefox and for Internet Explorer) but it works on the fly. The advantage of this is that it still protects without any delays for threats to be identified.

It doesn't seem to be included in the updater for AVG Free 7.5 so it needs to be an uninstall/reinstall job.
